DeepL is a machine translation and language-AI platform. Its models are trained with proprietary methods and refined with professional language experts, and the core product is a translation engine available as a web translator, desktop and mobile apps, document translation that keeps the original layout, and an API for embedding translation in websites, internal tools and apps.

Translation covers over 100 languages, and the platform has grown into a wider suite: DeepL Write for reworking business text, DeepL Voice for Conversations for face-to-face translation from a mobile device, and DeepL Voice for Meetings, which shows real-time translated captions and integrates with Zoom Meetings and Microsoft Teams. Paid translator features include glossaries and rules for pinning terminology and style. The company says more than 200,000 business teams use the platform, and it publishes customer stories with Sumitomo Corporation, Merck KGaA, Cybozu, Daiwa Securities and Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems. Its security material cites SOC 2 Type II certification, GDPR alignment, regular penetration testing, bring-your-own-key encryption, single sign-on via SAML and OIDC, and a commitment not to store or train on customer text without consent.

DeepL was founded in Cologne in 2017 by CEO Jarek Kutylowski and is based in Germany; it describes itself as one of the world's leading language-AI companies and says it was the first company in Europe to deploy NVIDIA's DGX SuperPOD with DGX GB200 systems, running its clusters on renewable energy. It has appeared on TIME's 2025 list and on Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies.
