Business overview

WithSecure builds and runs enterprise cybersecurity products, selling largely through partners rather than directly to end users. Its core offering is Elements, a modular cloud platform combining endpoint protection, endpoint detection and response, exposure and vulnerability management, and collaboration protection for cloud services, with managed detection and response services on top. The stated direction is proactive security: exposure management and AI-driven detection aimed at finding problems before an incident, plus a GenAI assistant, Luminen, for security teams.

The company counts roughly 6,000 partners and has offices across Europe and in Japan, on a multi-tenant platform built for managed service providers looking after a handful to a thousand organisations. Detection is backed by 24/7 monitoring and in-house threat intelligence and incident response teams; WithSecure says it has taken part in every MITRE ATT&CK Enterprise evaluation for EDR products, and cites an AV-TEST Best Protection Award and the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Exposure Assessment Platforms. It also supplies EDR/MDR behind FUJIFILM Business Innovation's IT Expert Services.

The business started in Helsinki in 1988 as Data Fellows, founded by Petri Allas and Risto Siilasmaa, and shipped its first heuristic antivirus scanner in 1991; consulting and threat-hunting capability arrived through acquisitions between 2015 and 2018, including MWR InfoSecurity and the Countercept platform behind its managed detection and response. Elements launched in 2021, and in 2022 the B2B division was rebranded WithSecure while the consumer business was spun off. It is headquartered in Helsinki and pitches itself as a European alternative to US vendors, with GDPR, NIS2 and ISO 27001 compliance built in.
