Business overview

Hetzner is a German cloud and hosting provider that has sold servers since 1997, growing from a small Bavarian operation into one of Europe's largest independent hosts. The range runs from shared cloud vCPUs and dedicated root servers to managed servers, web hosting, storage boxes and full colocation — plus a server auction where you bid on discounted dedicated machines.

It owns and operates three data-centre parks in Germany and Finland — Falkenstein, Nuremberg and Helsinki — all ISO 27001 and BSI C5 certified and running largely on renewable energy, with colocated cloud locations in Ashburn, Virginia, Hillsboro, Oregon and Singapore. The network peers directly at DE-CIX and other major exchanges.

Its reputation rests on price: cloud and dedicated servers that cost a fraction of the hyperscalers, with simple, predictable billing and generous included traffic (20 TB on EU cloud plans). That has made it the default choice for self-hosters, indie hackers and startups who want raw compute without a hyperscaler invoice.
