IONOS is a European provider of hosting and cloud services. The catalogue runs from domain registration and shared or WordPress hosting through AI-assisted website building, business email and online selling, up to root servers, cloud servers and a Compute Engine for heavier workloads. Cloud servers, sold as Cloud Cubes, are fully virtualised with VMware on Intel Xeon processors and SSD SAN storage, and can be assembled by hand in the Data Center Designer or provisioned through a documented API.

IONOS publishes 137,000 virtual machines in operation, 2,500 deployed weekly, 10 data centres certified to ISO 27001 and platform availability guaranteed above 99.99%. Cloud servers bill by the minute with no overage fee and a listed maximum price, starting at $0.008 per hour for 1 vCPU with 2 GB RAM and 60 GB of storage and reaching $0.091 per hour for 16 vCPU, 32 GB RAM and 960 GB. Instances support live vertical and horizontal scaling, free load balancing and full root access, with MySQL, MariaDB and MongoDB available, and every cloud server includes 24/7 support and a personal consultant.

The operating company, IONOS Group SE, is registered at Elgendorfer Strasse 57 in Montabaur, Germany. It was founded 25 years ago as one of the first hosting providers in Europe and describes itself as the clear leader in European web hosting, now growing in cloud. The group reports around 6.91 million customers, roughly 22 million registered domains and a presence in 17 markets across Europe and North America, with 2025 revenue of about EUR 1.316 billion, up 5.5%. Products are proprietary and vendor-hosted. The management board is Achim Weiss, Patrik Heider and Dr. Jens-Christian Reich; the supervisory board is chaired by Ralph Dommermuth.

Value proposition

Cloud servers bill by the minute with no overage charges and a published maximum price, so a short workload spike costs what the rate card says rather than a month of reserved capacity.
