Koofr is an EU-hosted cloud storage service that doubles as a hub for accounts held elsewhere: the same app connects other cloud storage providers, so files kept in several services can be browsed, searched and worked on from one place. On its own it is a drive with sync clients, browser access, sharing and online editing, and the first 10 GB are free.
Clients exist for Windows, Mac and Linux, for iOS, Android and Huawei devices, and in the browser. Koofr Vault keeps selected files in a client-side encrypted area, expiring links and per-user permissions cover sharing, and Office for the web allows documents to be created, viewed, edited and collaborated on inside the service. Koofr states that it does not track activity, does not scan files and keeps no hidden copies after deletion, and that data is encrypted and spread across several data centres in the European Union.
Koofr is a software company headquartered in Slovenia; the name comes from the German Koffer, French coffre and English coffer, chosen to suggest a safe place for files that travels with its owner. Beyond direct customers, its products reach users under other names in the offerings of internet service providers and enterprises.
