Business overview

Icedrive is cloud storage built around a mounted drive rather than a synchronised folder. The desktop client maps the account as a virtual disk, so files are browsed, opened and saved directly from the cloud without a local copy occupying the machine's storage. A separate encrypted virtual drive applies zero-knowledge client-side encryption to everything placed in it, while conventional folder synchronisation stays available for machines that need offline copies.

The free tier includes 10 GB. Paid plans are annual: Pro at $99 for 2 TB, Pro Plus at $159 for 4 TB and Pro Max at $269 for 6 TB, with 3, 5 or 10 sync devices respectively, file version history of 30, 60 or 90 days and up to 100 versions. Mobile apps cover camera auto-upload, offline files and media streaming. Public links can be password-protected, given expiry dates and download caps, or set to preview-only. Transfers run over TLS 1.2/1.3, the paid tiers add zero-knowledge client-side encryption, two-factor authentication is available through an authenticator app or SMS, and data centres are ISO 27001 certified at Tier III+. GDPR and UK GDPR compliance are both stated, alongside a 30-day money-back guarantee.

The service is operated by Ice Privacy Ltd, whose published address is the World Trade Center in Gibraltar. The clients are proprietary and the storage is vendor-run rather than self-hostable, and the plan comparison states that there are no ads, tracking or data selling. No founding year is published on the pages reviewed.
