Tresorit

Tresorit is a file storage and collaboration service built around zero-knowledge end-to-end encryption. Files are encrypted on the user's own device before they are uploaded, so the decryption keys stay with the customer and the vendor cannot read the contents. It is sold to organisations that handle confidential material and have to show where a file went: healthcare, finance, legal and compliance teams, IT and security departments, HR and enterprise buyers.

The platform covers encrypted storage and sync, secure file exchange, data rooms for external collaboration, e-signatures, and encrypted email sent from Outlook or Gmail. Data residency is selectable, either EU-only or any of 12 data centre locations, and Tresorit lists support for GDPR, HIPAA, NIS2, CCPA, FINRA and Swiss DSG requirements. Administration includes single sign-on and user sync through Azure AD, Okta or Google, granular sharing and access policies, audit logs, and remote or local wipe. Tresorit states that more than 11,000 organisations use it, under the product names Tresorit SecureCloud and Tresorit Engage.

Tresorit was founded in 2011 as a secure file sync and sharing tool and is now part of Swiss Post, within its Swiss Post Digital business. It has offices in Switzerland, Germany and Hungary, and its CEO is Istvan Hartung. The software is proprietary and vendor-hosted: there is no self-hosted edition, and customers buy the managed service rather than the source code.
