Business overview
Mollie is a payment service provider for businesses that sell online and in person in Europe and the UK. A merchant or platform integrates once - through Mollie's own APIs, libraries or plug-ins - and can then accept 38 payment methods, from international cards and PayPal to local ones such as iDEAL and Wero, Bancontact, Klarna, BLIK, TWINT and SEPA Direct Debit. The same contract covers payment links, invoicing, recurring payments, in-person terminals, outbound payments, business accounts and working capital.
Mollie says it serves more than 250,000 businesses with a 1,000-strong team spread across Europe from Lisbon to London. Pricing is per successful transaction with no monthly minimum and no lock-in: EEA consumer cards at 1.80% + EUR 0.25, American Express at 2.90% + EUR 0.25, SEPA Direct Debit at EUR 0.35 and iDEAL/Wero at EUR 0.32, with volume pricing above EUR 100,000 a month and fee waivers for funded startups. In-person payments cost EUR 0 a month pay-as-you-go or EUR 20 a month on Pro including one terminal licence. Multi-currency payouts allow up to 11 additional currencies, and an MCP server lets Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT agents act on a Mollie account within permissions the merchant grants.
Mollie B.V. is based at Keizersgracht 126 in Amsterdam and is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (30204462) as a payment service provider licensed and supervised by De Nederlandsche Bank. It describes 22 years of offering a more direct, cheaper way to get paid than the banks did at the time, and customer funds are held through Stichting Mollie Payments, a foundation kept separate from Mollie's own accounts, so an insolvency of Mollie B.V. does not touch money being processed for its merchants.
Value proposition
European merchants can put 38 local payment methods - iDEAL and Wero, Bancontact, Klarna, BLIK, SEPA Direct Debit - behind one integration and one contract, paying per successful transaction with no monthly minimum or lock-in, instead of adding an acquirer market by market as they expand.
