Business overview

Baserow is an open source no-code database and application builder: records live in a table with grid, kanban, calendar, timeline, form and survey views on top, and pages, dashboards and no-code workflows are composed over the same data. It runs on PostgreSQL and is offered as hosted cloud, as a self-hosted deployment through Docker, Helm, AWS or Cloudron, or as a managed private instance.

Data can be imported from CSV, XML and JSON or pulled from external sources; automations are assembled from triggers, branches, conditions and loops with HTTP, email and webhook actions plus third-party connectors; an API covers the platform and plugins extend both frontend and backend. Almost all of the code is MIT licensed, and the company reports GDPR, HIPAA and SOC 2 Type II compliance, with more than 50,000 teams and individuals using it. A hosted AI assistant named Kuma can build a structure from a written description of the data you need to manage.

Baserow began as a side project in 2019 and shipped its first version in 2020. The company has been fully remote since day one, with staff across twelve countries and a reported team of 17, and it operates an open core model in which paid Premium, Advanced and Enterprise licences fund development of the free tier, which stays self-hostable.

Value proposition

Because almost all of Baserow is MIT licensed and self-hostable, you can run it against your own Postgres with no row caps or per-seat licence, rather than paying per user for a database you could host yourself.
