Business overview

Revolut is a London-based financial app: a mobile account that holds several currencies, issues debit cards and bundles spending, saving, investing, borrowing and business payments into one product. It launched in 2015 offering transfers and foreign exchange cheaper than legacy banks, and has since grown a personal plan ladder (Standard, Plus, Premium, Metal, Ultra) alongside Revolut Business tiers (Basic, Grow, Scale, Enterprise).

Revolut reports 75+ million personal customers and 800,000+ business customers, with roughly 30,000 companies joining Revolut Business each month. Businesses can transfer to 150+ destinations, hold and exchange 25+ currencies at the interbank rate within a plan allowance, receive money via IBAN and SWIFT/BIC details, and connect Xero, Sage, QuickBooks and 45+ other tools; Revolut Pay gives merchants a one-click checkout. Personal users can trade 5,000+ stocks and ETFs commission-free inside a monthly allowance, earn plan-dependent interest on Instant Access Savings, and ask the in-app AIR assistant. The EEA arm is authorised by the Bank of Lithuania, Revolut Bank UK Ltd is authorised by the PRA and regulated by the PRA and the FCA, and in the US, Australia and Singapore the company works through partner banks.

The company was founded in 2015 by Nik Storonsky and Vlad Yatsenko. Its global headquarters is the YY London building at Canary Wharf; the registered address of Revolut Ltd, Revolut Travel Ltd and Revolut Trading Ltd is 30 South Colonnade, London E14 5HX; and a Western Europe hub sits in Paris. Revolut says it is working towards banking in 100 countries and 100 million customers by mid-2027. The software is proprietary, shipped through the App Store and Google Play.

Value proposition

Money can sit in 25+ currencies and move at the interbank rate within a plan allowance, and the same app issues team cards, pays suppliers and takes card payments, so businesses stop juggling a separate bank, FX provider and acquirer.
