Business overview

Geoapify is a location platform that sells APIs and developer tooling rather than a finished map product. Its APIs fall into five groups: maps (vector and raster tiles, static maps, markers), address search (geocoding, reverse geocoding, autocomplete), routing (routes, multi-stop optimisation, logistics tasks), places (points of interest, place details, postcodes, categories) and reachability and analysis (travel-time areas, service coverage, elevation profiles). The services are built on open data - GeoNames, OpenStreetMap, OpenAddresses and GTFS transit schedules - and the company's stated policy is to keep that data open, with transparent sources rather than a proprietary dataset behind the results.

Everything is aimed at developers: an API playground, step-by-step tutorials, NPM libraries and GitHub code samples, plus custom work such as on-premise, dedicated or managed installations and geodata pipelines. Pricing runs from a free tier, which can be used for commercial projects within its quota, through paid plans to custom unmetered contracts for high volumes, and exceeding a quota does not cut the service off. The licence terms are deliberately permissive compared with the large mapping vendors: results may be cached, stored and redistributed, so a customer can build and keep a reusable address database of its own. OpenStreetMap attribution is required.

The imprint lists KEPTAGO LTD in Paphos, Cyprus as the operating company, while the copyright notice names Geoapify GmbH; contact runs through a Cypriot phone number and [email protected]. The company frames its business as infrastructure, processing and service quality rather than owning datasets, which is how it argues it can stay cheap, and it sells deployment and engineering support alongside the APIs.

Value proposition

Geoapify lets you store and reuse the geocoding results you pay for instead of leaving them locked in a vendor's cache, and its free tier is explicitly usable in commercial work - so you can keep your own address database without renegotiating terms later.
