Leafcloud

Leafcloud is a Dutch cloud provider whose compute runs in a distributed set of Leaf sites — server racks placed inside buildings that need heat, such as apartment blocks, care homes and swimming pools. Waste heat from the servers warms the building instead of being dumped, while persistent data stays in the company's own Tier III facility in Amsterdam. The platform is built on OpenStack rather than a proprietary stack, and capacity is bought the usual way: virtual machines, Kubernetes or GPUs, reached over the network from the separate core location.

The catalogue covers managed Kubernetes (Gardener, with GPU-native orchestration, auto-healing and hibernation), virtual machines, block storage, S3-compatible object storage and networking with free ingress and egress traffic; managed PostgreSQL and MySQL are announced for 2026. NVIDIA RTX 6000 Blackwell GPUs with 96 GB of VRAM are available in Amsterdam. Compute and storage are cryptographically separated: data is pulled from the Amsterdam core into a Leaf site's RAM only while a workload needs it and is not persisted there, so a physically compromised Leaf site holds nothing. The infrastructure is covered by an ISO 27001 certificate and a SOC 2 Type II report.

The company is Leafcloud B.V., registered at Science Park 400 in Amsterdam, and it describes itself as Dutch-owned with no US parent company, board members or investors. Its stated position is that EU regions of American hyperscalers remain subject to US jurisdiction while its own infrastructure does not. Data is held in the Netherlands under GDPR, and a data processing agreement, SLA and the compliance documents are published alongside the certifications.
