Scaleway is a European cloud provider that sells compute, storage, networking and AI infrastructure on demand from data centres it runs itself. The catalogue covers elastic cloud instances, bare metal servers, managed Kubernetes, serverless containers and functions, object and block storage, managed databases, load balancers, DNS, GPU capacity and AI inference endpoints, provisioned through a web console, a REST API and a command line interface.

The portfolio runs to 100+ cloud and AI products and services, spread over four multi-AZ regions in Europe - three availability zones in each - and more than 65 points of presence worldwide, with 5,000+ GPUs available to researchers and companies. Named users include Mistral AI, Hugging Face and Aternos. Its record includes several European firsts: a three-availability-zone region architecture (2018), managed Kubernetes from a European cloud provider (2020), a general-purpose serverless compute platform (2021), native IAM (2022), a public cloud GPU supercomputer (2023), quantum-as-a-service (2024) and sovereign inference on Hugging Face (2025).

Scaleway is a subsidiary of the iliad Group, with its registered office at 8, rue de la Ville-l'Eveque in Paris. It operates in France, Poland, Italy and the Netherlands, with deployments announced for Sweden and Germany. The service is proprietary and vendor-hosted rather than open-source or self-hosted, and it pitches itself as a European alternative to the hyperscalers on data sovereignty, publishing live energy, water and power usage effectiveness figures for its data centres.

Value proposition

A European provider where every region carries three availability zones and pricing is published per product - the draw is EU data residency and portability without moving wholesale to AWS or Google Cloud.
