Gandi

Gandi is a domain registrar that also sells the services that hang off a domain. Customers register a name from a catalogue of more than 800 extensions and can attach TLS certificates, mailboxes, web hosting and VPS servers, managing them from one account. A public API covers every product, and Terraform state management is offered for servers and cloud infrastructure.

A registration comes with an SSL certificate, two custom mailboxes and anycast DNS with DNSSEC free for the first year; VPS servers start at 5.00 EUR excluding taxes per month. DNS features include anycast, DNSSEC and anti-DDoS protection, and mailboxes can be locked down with two-factor authentication. Gandi manages over 2.5 million domain names, 780,000 email addresses and 55,000 SSL certificates, and hosts more than 200,000 websites and applications, with over 350,000 active users, 8,000 resellers and 500 key clients. Support is handled in-house and staffed 24/7 in English, Spanish, Chinese, French and Japanese, with replies signed by name.

Gandi has traded since December 2000 and frames itself as having started in order to push back on the big monopolies, so that domains and later cloud hosting stayed accessible to as many people as possible. It says it prefers open-source solutions, supports net neutrality as a founding principle, and hosts customer sites in France or Luxembourg. Alongside direct sales and a reseller channel it runs a key-account service covering trademark protection, monitoring and takedown of fraudulent websites.
