OVHcloud

OVHcloud is a European cloud and hosting provider that sells public cloud, hosted private cloud, bare metal and web cloud services. The range covers dedicated servers, virtual private servers, managed Kubernetes and managed databases alongside shared hosting and domain names, telephony and internet access. Rather than reselling capacity assembled by someone else, OVHcloud designs, builds, maintains and recycles its own servers and runs its own fibre network and datacentres, which is where it locates most of the cost and compliance argument.

The company reports more than 400,000 servers in over 46 datacentres across four continents, 44 redundant points of presence, a 100 Tbps network and around 1.6 million customers, with products sold in 140 countries. Dedicated server plans include anti-DDoS protection, and Public Cloud instances are billed with guaranteed, fully dedicated resources. Certifications include ISO 27001, ISO 27701, HDS and SecNumCloud, and the group says it does not sell, use or transfer customer data, lets customers choose the jurisdiction their data sits in, and charges no bandwidth cost for data recovery.

OVHcloud was founded in 1999 and is a French company; the parent, OVH Groupe SA, is registered at 2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, with the Lille company registry. The group also discloses environmental figures: a power usage effectiveness of 1.24 against a market average of 1.57, 25 of its 46 datacentres housed in renovated buildings, servers reused for up to three lifecycles, and targets of 100% low-carbon energy and zero waste to landfill.
